1. Who we are and what this covers
These terms apply to the Knotup app for macOS (“Knotup”, “the app”) and this website. Knotup is offered by Ali Hussein, Wilhelmsstraße 31, 34117 Kassel, Germany (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Knotup you agree to these terms.
2. Free trial
You can try Knotup for free for 6 days with all features. After the trial you need a license to keep saving new items. Items you already saved stay available to you.
3. Buying a license
Licenses are sold through Link, Stripe’s checkout (Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company), which acts as our reseller and merchant of record. Your purchase contract, payment, taxes, invoices and statutory consumer rights for the purchase are handled by Stripe under its own terms. Prices are shown on our website and at checkout; taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you live. A license costs a one-time payment and works on up to 3 Macs.
Refunds: If Knotup isn’t right for you, email us within 6 days of your purchase and we’ll arrange a full refund. This doesn’t limit any statutory rights you may have.
4. Your license
With a valid license key you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Knotup on the number of Macs stated at purchase. You may not:
- share, resell or publish your license key,
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law expressly allows it,
- use Knotup in a way that breaks the law or the rights of others.
Knotup checks your license key with our license server from time to time. You can move a license to another Mac by deactivating it in Knotup’s settings first. If a purchase was refunded or charged back, or a key is misused, the key can be deactivated.
5. Updates
We release updates with fixes and new features through the built-in updater. Your license includes all Knotup 1.x updates at no extra cost. A future major version (for example Knotup 2) may be offered as a separate, optional upgrade — the version you bought keeps working. We may change or remove features if that is reasonable for you — for example because a third-party app changed how it works.
6. Your content and other apps
The text you save stays on your Mac and belongs to you. You are responsible for what you save and for keeping your own backups.
Knotup works alongside apps such as Claude, ChatGPT, Slack and Notion. We are not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by their makers, and all names and trademarks belong to their owners. Because these apps change, jumping back to a saved spot may not always work perfectly.
7. Warranty and liability
If you are a consumer, your statutory warranty rights apply. Our liability is unlimited for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper use of Knotup possible in the first place and on which you may rely), and only for the typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise our liability is excluded.
8. Ending
You can stop using Knotup at any time by deleting it. If you seriously breach these terms, your license may end.
9. Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms for future versions; the version that applies is the one shown here when you buy or update. German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of mandatory laws of the country where you live.
